I pray and I'm not ashamed to say it. You might find me praying in the early morning hours before everyone in the house wakes up. I love those times the most. The busyness of the day hasn't started and I feel I can give my undivided attention to Him. I might pray over my family, my finances, my job, my friends. Sometimes my talks with Him might be pretty intense and some days, I only have a couple of minutes before I hear someone waking up.
You might find me praying at work. When I worked in the corporate world, I felt weird praying, almost like I was doing something forbidden. But now that I work in a church -- well, no worries there! I sometimes duck in the sanctuary, stare at the cross and pray what is on my heart at that moment. Sitting at the front desk, I get to see and talk to all sorts of people every day and sometimes they walk through those doors with the weight of the world on their shoulders. They'll ask for prayer. And we pray together.
It seems like moms care about other people more than themselves sometimes, doesn't it? We have a tendency to put others first and then take care of ourselves. Someone once told me we shouldn't be doing that. Think of the emergency instructions when you fly. If something happens and the oxygen masks fall, you should put the mask over your face first and then help the person next to you. Why? Because you won't be any good to anyone if you pass out. Make sense? I've got another one. Have you ever heard the phrase, "If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy?" True, right? My kids can give you an "amen" on that one!
My days go so much better when I take a moment to pray and I'm pretty sure if you asked the folks who are with me day in and day out, they will tell you I'm in a much better mood when I do.
Do you feel like you're too busy to speak with Him? Well, don't beat yourself up over that. He's just happy to hear from you.
So, because I just love all of you, I'm sharing some of my favorite prayers, the ones I use over and over again when time seems to get away from me. The ones that I can always remember. The ones that are on my heart. Click here to download your free printable.
Don't you just love those colors? If you want, print it out and frame it. Hang it on the refrigerator. Share it with someone who might need a boost.
Let me know if this is helpful to you. Also, I'd love to hear your prayer routine. Do you start off your day with prayer or do you pray throughout the day? Share in the comments!
